Welcome to the Weekly Wine Review!
Choosing wine can be an intimidating process. For some people, it can be difficult to dish out “x” amount of dollars and commit to a wine which they may or may not like – that’s where this review comes into play.
Once a week I will be reviewing two different wines – some good and some not so good – and it will all help to gear you toward making wine choices without hesitance. All the wines reviewed are purchased economically (most will be $25 or less), so you can purchase a great tasting wine on a budget!
Whether you are looking for a new wine to try, a bottle of wine to bring to a friends house or a wine to choose for a date, this review should aid you in your selection!
Salute!
Inniskillin: Reisling-Pinot Grigio
Inniskillin Reisling-Pinot Grigio was a delightful discovery. A friend of mine picked it up when she was in Canada and we opened it up and enjoyed it with some good conversation. Inniskillin is a Canadian wine located in both Okanagan and Niagra, Canada and plays a vital role in “exploring new frontiers in winemaking while maintaining strategic partnerships and forging new initiatives in research, education and environmental responsibility.”
This particular varietal is a light, crisp and perfect summertime wine with citrus and tropical notes and aromas with apple and pear flavor and an excellent clean finish.

Nine Points: Meritage (Red)
If you like full-bodied and slightly drier wines, this wine is for you! A Meritage is a blend of Bordeaux grape varietals which can traditionally include Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet France, Petit Verdot and Malbec.
Nine Points Meritage is a lesser-known winery of its famed parent: Stag’s Leap. The wine is full and rich in color and has black current taste with a plumb aroma. Though the finish doesn’t linger long, the tannins tend to have a strong presence on the sides of the tongue.
Nine Points Meritage
Cost: $14.99
