Weekly Wine Review

Choosing wine can be an intimidating process. For some people, it can be difficult to dish out “x” amount of dollars and commit to a wine which they may or may not like – that’s where this review comes into play.

Once a week I will be reviewing two different wines – some good and some not so good – and it will all help to gear you toward making wine choices without hesitance. All the wines reviewed are purchased economically (most will be $25 or less), so you can purchase a great tasting wine on a budget!

Whether you are looking for a new wine to try, a bottle of wine to bring to a friends house or a wine to choose for a date, this review should aid you in your selection!

Salute!

Frontier Red: Lot #92

This is my new favorite wine, period. It is made by Fess Parker Wineries in Santa Barbara, California (Fess Parker played the iconic T.V. characters of Daniel Boone and Davy Crockett in the mid-50’s). The Vineyard itself is robust in it’s production with four vineyards on 700 hundred acres in Santa Barbara County.

It’s extremely affordable, velvety and delectable.  The tannins are soft, the alcohol content high and the flavor rich and smooth. It’s a nice, medium-bodied, lush and “jammy” red wine blend with a great finish. One of the most prominent aromas to emanate from this wine is vanilla with a subtle undertone of cocoa.

Frontier Red: Lot #92 Anniversary Edition

Our Daily Red

If you like robust red wines, this one might be for you! Our Daily Red has a full-bodied mouth-feel with cocoa, smoky cedar and earthy aromas and a very subtle blackberry undertone. It is rich and color and dry with a hint of sweetness in the finish. Word of advice: Let this one breathe for at least 15-20 minutes. What else is great about this wine? It’s organic, vegan-friendly and doesn’t contain sulfites!!
